Paperback. 1st edition/5th printing of the official first appearance of The Hobbit in the US as paperback. The infamous cover by Brem (Barbara Remington) with the lion. emu's and christmas tree. Tolkien truely hated this cover. In the revisted edition it was changed (well, the lion was removed). Antiquarian: very good condition (owner's bookplate on inside cover, cover faded, but a very tight, unread conditon).*
